10 Mistakes to Avoid in a Trial

10. Dwelling more on the problem in prayer than on the answers in God's Word.

9. Rehearsing the worst outcomes in your mind instead of thinking on things that are true, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

8. Resisting the urge to talk to a friend because you have to keep up an image of invulnerability.

7. Feeling like a miserable Christian because you feel distress, and forgetting that even Paul was "pressed out of measure" (2 Corinthians 1:8) for a time. Being down should not be the norm, but you might get hit and reel for a bit. You will recover your peace if you stay on course.

6. Believing that it is God's will for you to be down for the count and to just stay there or remain passive.

5. Forgetting that there is a great spiritual battle, and that many negative thoughts and accusations are probably coming from the devil.

4. Believing that the trial will never end, or that you will never have victory.

3. Casting your care upon the Lord (1 Peter 5:7) and then grabbing it back instead of leaving it with Him!

2. Becoming self-absorbed and forgetting to reach out and help others.

1. Waiting for everything to be resolved before praising and thanking God.
